Day 1: Arrival in Tirana
Arrive at Mother Theresa Airport. Meet and assist to your hotel in Tirana. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Tirana
After breakfast we visit the Black Cave in the village of Pellumbas. We’ll hike along the 2km trail and observe the stalactites and stalagmites in the cave. If we’re lucky, we might even be able to track a bat’s nest or two. We’ll continue on to Mount Dajti National Park, which has stunning lush green forests, several varieties of flora and fauna and hundreds of species of birds. The mountain also affords hikers a spectacular panoramic view of the city below. We’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant. After our afternoon of hiking and bird watching, we’ll return to the hotel in Tirana. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Tirana – Ohrid
After breakfast we depart for Ohrid, Macedonia. We will drive through Elbasan and Pogradec and stop for lunch in Drilon, one of the loveliest spots of natural beauty in Albania. After crossing the border into Macedonia, we will stop to visit the Monastery of St. Naum on the shore of Lake Ohrid. In the afternoon we will have a walking tour of Ohrid, one of the oldest towns in Europe, and a UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage site. Lake Ohrid is one of the oldest and deepest lakes on the continent and with its unique flora and fauna is one of the largest biological reserves in Europe. Scientific studies show it has preserved some forms of primeval life which no longer exist in other places or only exist as fossils. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Galicica National Park – Day of Hiking and Bird Watching
After breakfast we depart to spend the day in Galicica National Park. The park, with its numerous hiking trails, is home to over 300 hundreds species of birds, some of which are migratory birds. 56 of Macedonia’s native birds are protected species. Pelicans and cormorants are quite common in this region. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Ohrid – Mavrovo National Park
After breakfast we drive to Mavrovo National Park for a full day of hiking and bird watching. Mavrovo is home to the highest mountain peaks in all of Macedonia. We will have lunch in a local restaurant. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 6: Mavrovo – Tetova – Prizren
Today we will travel to Prizren through Tetova, where we will visit the Motley Mosque. After lunch enjoy sightseeing in the city and visit Sinan Pasha’s mosque. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Theranda in Prizren.

Day 7: Prizren – Brezovice
In the morning visit the Bajrakli Gazi Mehmet Pasha’s mosque and the historic Prizren League House. Later depart for Sharri (Brezovica) National Park. After lunch enjoy a free afternoon to explore the park. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

This park showcases the ecologic diversity and rich flora and fauna of one of the most important and interesting mountain ranges in the Balkans. Ethno-tourism, hiking, biking, mountaineering, hunting, fishing, and many other rural tourism potentials make this place ideal for welcoming tourists. In the summer tourists at Brezovica enjoy being close to nature through hiking, hunting, fishing, and visiting the numerous cultural and historical sites. The lush flora of the park also makes it a wonderful spot for collecting edible mushrooms, medicinal herbs, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and other types of wild berries.

Day 8: Brezovica – Gjakove – Valbona
This morning we continue our journey, passing through Gjakova, the Morina crossing border, and the small town of Bajram Curri, where we will have lunch at a local restaurant. Later we drive to Valbona National Park. Free afternoon. Dinner and overnight at hotel guesthouse Burimi Valbones (or similar).

Day 9: Valbona
Enjoy a full day of hiking in the Valbona Valley. Northwest of the city of Bajram Curri, the 8,000 hectares of the rugged, alpine Valbona Valley offer beautiful mountain vistas and a river, which is famous for its crystal clear waters and spectacular waterfalls. This mountainous region is great for hiking, camping, and exploring the Albanian Alps; and the bio-diversity of this area has important significance globally in terms of science, tourism, and healing. Lunch, dinner, and overnight at your guesthouse.

Day 10: Valbona – Fierza – Koman – Virpazar
We depart early morning (4:30am) to drive from Valbona to Fierza, where you will board the ferry to Koman, enjoying the fantastic landscapes of the Drini River. From Koman we will proceed to Virpazar (Montenegro) via Shkodra and Podgorica. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon we will explore Skadar National Park. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Virpazar.

Day 11: Virpazar – Shkoder – Tirana
Free morning (optional boat trip on Lake Skadar). At noon drive to Tirana through the Sukobin/Murriqan crossing border. After lunch we will have a short stop in Lezha to visit the Memorial of Skanderbeg. Next we will proceed to Kruja, home of Albania’s national hero, Scanderbeg, who in the 15th century successfully fought off the Turks for over thirty years. Visit the Old Castle, the impressive Scanderbeg Museum, and the Turkish-style bazaar. Drive to Tirana for dinner and overnight at Hotel Tafaj.

Day 12: Departure
Transfer to the airport for departure.
