Day 1: Arrive in Uacari Lodge
Transfer from the airport to Tefé where you will be taken by motorboat to Uacari Lodge. After arriving at the lodge you will be briefed about the basic guidelines and recommendations about the trail and the history of Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve. Learn about the projects developed by the Mamirauá Sustainable Development Institute together with the local people.
Day 2: Uacari Lodge
After breakfast we will visit one of the communities in the Mamirauá reserve. Return back to the lodge for lunch and rest. Later leave for a tour by paddle canoe. In the evening there will be a meeting with the researchers who will explain the conservation work in Mamirauá.
Day 3: Uacari Lodge
In the morning we will do some optional trekking. Return back to the lodge for lunch and rest. In afternoon take a tour by boat on Lake Mamirauá and enjoy the quiet setting and fantastic sunset. On the return trip we will watch for nocturnal animals.
Day 4: Leave for Brasília
After breakfast transfer to Tefé for your flight to Brasilia. Brasilia is the capital city created in 1956 from nothing and a landmark in urban planning. Brasília, inaugurated as Brazil’s capital in 1960, is a planned city distinguished by its white, modern architecture, chiefly designed by Oscar Niemeyer. Overnight in Brasilia.
Day 5: Brasilia – Chapada dos Veadeiros / Vale da Lua
Transfer to the National Park of Chapada dos Veadeiros which was listed as a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001 for being an outstanding preservation area of the Cerrado – one of the world’s oldest and most diverse tropical ecosystems. Visit the sleepy village of São Jorge, the plateau of Morro da Baleia, the Garden of Maytrea and the fantastic Vale da Lua. Overnight in Sao Jorge
Day 6: National Park Chapada dos Veadeiros
Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park is noted for its waterfalls ranging from 80 to 120 meters and occupies an area of 253 sq miles. Overnight in Sao Jorge
Day 7: Daily excursion to the Almécegas I, Almécegas II and São Bento Waterfalls:
Drive approximately 4 miles on unpaved road to view these fantastic waterfalls which are great places for sunbathing, swimming and bird watching. There are recorded and photographed 93 species in this area. Later we will have a City Tour of Brasilia. Transfer to Juscelino Kubitschek airport for your flight to Campo Grande. Transfer to Sao Francisco Farm for overnight.
Day 8: Excursion to São Francisco Farm at Pantanal
Enjoy the wonders of Sao Francisco Farm which is an important ecosystem where you will be in direct contact with nature. On an excursion by boat on an arm of the Rio Miranda,you can see birds such as hawks, fisherman, alligators, nutria and others. Overnight Sao Francisco Farm
Day 9: São Francisco Farm
Trekking day and boat tour. Overnight at Sao Francisco Farm.
Day 10: São Francisco Farm – Rio de Janeiro
Transfer to Campo Grande for your flight to Rio de Janeiro. Overnight Rio de Janeiro
Day 11: Sugar Loaf and Christ Redeemer tour
Start the day with a panoramic city tour of Rio de Janeiro visiting the Metropolitan Cathedral for photos and listen to a brief history of the cathedral. Ride a cable car to Morro de Urca and Sugar Loaf Mountain and enjoy the spectacular view stretching from Sugar Loaf to the Guanabara Bay. From Sugar Loaf pass through the Tijuca rainforest walking up to the statue of Christ Redeemer. Overnight Rio de Janeiro.
Day 12: Day at leisure or beaches
Overnight Rio de Janeiro
Day 13: Transfer to Mangaratiba or Angra dos Reis and take the ferry to Ilha Grande
An island so close to Rio De Janeiro, yet so different. Overnight Ilha Grande.
Day 14: Day at leisure or beaches in Ilha Grande
Day 15: Return back to Rio de Janeiro
Transfer to the airport for departure.
