Rich in resources, naturally good-looking and persistently peaceful, Slovenia has been doing just fine since its break from the former Yugoslavia in 1991. No longer the undiscovered, bargain gem that it was, Slovenia still remains a wonderful antidote to much of Europe's crowds and high prices. Many Slovenian cities and towns bear the imprint of the Habsburg Empire and the Venetian Republic, while up in the Julian Alps you'd almost think you were in Bavaria. The relative affluence of this country on the "sunny side of the Alps" is immediately apparent.

Day 1: LJUBLJANA AIRPORT - LJUBLIJANA
Our guide will meet you at the Ljubljana airport and transfer you to your hotel. After a short rest we'll have a chance to experience a special guided visit of this small but lively city. Ljubljana is the meeting point of the cultures of the east and the west, the old interlaces in harmony with the new. Discover the Baroque Old Town, nestled at the foot of Castle Hill. After the walk we will visit the Ljubljana castle just above the center of the city to enjoy the marvelous view. Overnight.
Day 2: LJUBLJANA - HRASTOVLJE - SOCERB - PIRAN - LJUBLJANA
After breakfast transfer to the Hrastovlje where we will visit the medieval, world-renowned church and the Castle Socerb. This castle is perched on the edge of a 300 meters high karst rock and offers a wonderful view of the Koper and Trieste Gulfs. We will then travel to Piran, where we will stop for a guided tour of the city. During our return trip, we will stop in Portoroz, a holiday center and seaside resort. Overnight in Ljubljana.
Day 3: LJUBLJANA - SKOFJA LOKA - BLED-BUHINJ - LJUBLJANA
After breakfast we will stop in the 13th century town of Skofja Loka, the most beautifully-preserved medieval city in Slovenia. Transfer to Lake Bled, a beautiful alpine resort and an ideal base for a relaxing break. Here we will visit the unique island and the castle of Bled. We continue our trip to Bohinj where we will visit the lake, the waterfalls and the rich ethnologic heritage. After the visit we return to Ljubljana for an afternoon at leisure.
Day 4: LJUBLJANA-POSTONJA-AIRPORT
After breakfast we will visit Southern Slovenia and the Predjama Castle. This 700-year-old castle is built on a 123-meter-high cliff.
