What To Know Before You Go To Greece

Create your very own authentic experience in Greece!  Click the magnifying glass icon above and type “Greece” to find helpful articles, ideas and tours that include Greece.

While the starting and ending points of our Tours are many and varied, any of them can include a visit to Athens, home to many ancient monuments like the temple of Olympian and the Ancient Agora. There are also many museums in Athens, as well as modern urban monuments including the House of Parliament in the bustling Syntagma Square, where you can see the changing of the guards every hour.

No visit to Athens is complete without paying homage to the ultra sleek Acropolis Museum, filled with artifacts and knowledge. It is also recommended as a lunch spot, as is the Plaka neighborhood, known as “the neighborhood of Gods”. Situated just below the Acropolis, Plaka is the oldest area in Athens. Strolling around will make you feel like a time traveler as you gaze at the amazing neoclassical two-story houses.  Start your day with an outdoor breakfast of Kaulouri pretzel, the infamous Athenian street food encrusted with sesame. Or seek out Lou Koumades for your sweet tooth; they go perfectly with Greek Coffee.

What about the seasons?  Greeks love Spring! The sun is shining, flowers are blooming, seasonal fruits are delicious and there is absolutely no excuse to stay in the house as the Greeks are out, strolling around lazily or riding bikes. For fresh air and spectacular views, nothing tops the beautiful hills and parks that surround Athens. Once Spring and Summer come to Greece, it is time to leave Athens and head for the islands which are numerous and varied. Let us be your guide!
